Final voter turnout expected to rise

Polling for the 70-seat Delhi Assembly has ended, with a voter turnout of 57.78% recorded by 5pm following a slow start in the morning. The final turnout is expected to increase as voters who were in line earlier continue to cast their ballots.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged voters to caste their vote and participate in festival of democracy.

Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 Live Updates: Voting across all the 70 seats in Delhi assembly began at 7 pm today and results for the same will be declared on February 8. The elections in the national capital will give a new government led by chief minister. 

Earlier on Tuesday, troubles mounted for AAP chief and former Delhi chief minister after Haryana police registered a case against Arvind Kejriwal under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act over poisoned Yamuna remarks. 


The FIR states: “The complainant is a public-spirited person and an advocate by profession. He is aggrieved by the act and conduct of the accused and is a permanent resident of the above-mentioned address. Therefore, he is competent and entitled to file this complaint in the Hon’ble Court against Shri Arvind Kejriwal and other members of the Aam Aadmi Party for committing offences under Sections 61 read with 109, 192, 196, 197, 248 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 62 read with 109, 192, 196, and 197 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.”

Delhi has 70 assembly constituencies of which 12 are reserved for the Scheduled Caste. Over 1.55 crore voters have been registered. 2.08 lakh voters are young, between the age group of 18 and 19Of the total electorate, 79,436 are persons with disabilities, 1,261 are third-gender voters and 1,09,941 are senior citizens over the age of 85.
