The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) faced a humiliating defeat in the Delhi elections, with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann failing to secure a single seat for the party despite extensive campaigning. CM Mann campaigned on 12 key seats in Delhi, including those of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. However, all of these constituencies saw AAP candidates losing, dealing a significant blow to the party.
BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh secured a major victory over AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi Assembly seat, winning by a margin of over 4,000 votes. Meanwhile, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit had a disappointing performance, garnering just 4,568 votes.
On the AAP front, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi emerged victorious in Kalkaji, defeating BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri by over 3,500 votes. Gopal Rai also claimed a decisive win in Babarpur, leading by 18,000 votes.
BJP leaders Kapil Mishra (Karawal Nagar) and Shikha Roy (Greater Kailash) secured important wins against their AAP rivals. Kulwant Rana delivered one of BJP’s biggest victories in Rithala, winning by over 29,000 votes.
The BJP has broken 16 out of 26 strongholds of AAP in Delhi, including Arvind Kejriwal’s New Delhi seat. These 26 constituencies had been AAP bastions for the last three Assembly elections.
The biggest gains for BJP came in West and North-West Delhi, where the party won 16 out of 20 seats, a significant jump from just one seat in 2020. These areas have a dominant Punjabi, Purvanchali, and Dalit voter base.
Additionally, the BJP swept all 10 Jat-dominated seats in Delhi, further consolidating its position in the capital
