Petrol pumps in Punjab will now open only from 7 am to 5 pm, here's why

While petrol and diesel prices in India continue to rise, the petrol pump owners have decided that petrol pumps in the state will now open only from 7 am to 5 pm.

The decision was taken in the Punjab Petroleum Dealers Association's meeting which was held at Sutlej Club in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Presiding over the meeting, the State President of the Association, Paramjit Singh Doaba said that the petrol pump dealers of Punjab were facing the brunt of the increasing input cost for a long time.

Petrol Pump Dealers Association, Punjab, said that "Dealers face financial losses and uncertain future due to higher Vat on MS and HSD in Punjab, non-revision of dealer margins, OMC offloading their expenses on to dealers and harassing dealers through measures like locking supplies."

Therefore, it was collectively decided that we give notice to the Govt of Punjab, Oil Marketing Companies and MoPNG, he said.

Amid lockdown, petro dealers struggle for sustenance

"Limit working timings from 7 am to 5 PM from November 7 to reduce expenses," the association said, adding that "failing a response from the concerned, Punjab dealers shall close down their pumps on November 22."
