Delhi govt cancels Rs 60 lakh CM residence renovation plan citing ‘administrative reasons’
Now-scrapped renovation proposal included major upgrades such as new electrical fittings and installation of 14 air conditioners
PTC Web Desk: The Delhi Government has withdrawn a Rs 60 lakh tender meant for renovating Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s official residence, citing “administrative reasons,” according to official records.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had been allotted two bungalows on Raj Niwas Marg by the Public Works Department (PWD)—one designated as her official residence and the other as a camp office. She formally inaugurated the camp office last Friday. The now-scrapped renovation proposal included major upgrades such as new electrical fittings, installation of 14 air conditioners, multiple television sets, and various other electronic enhancements intended to modernise the CM’s residence.
On Wednesday, CM Gupta conducted the first 'Jansunwai' (public grievance hearing) at her newly inaugurated camp office. Interacting with residents, she reiterated her commitment to public service, calling it the “supreme duty” of her administration.
In a separate development, the Delhi Cabinet has approved Rs 53 crore under the Integrated District Project Fund and the District Project Fund schemes. Officials stated that these schemes are designed to facilitate smaller but crucial development initiatives across the city’s districts by cutting down bureaucratic delays.
