The BJP has appointed Dr Archana Gupta as the new Haryana BJP president, making her the second woman to head the party in the state after 43 years
PTC Web Desk: The BJP on Thursday appointed Haryana BJP general secretary Dr Archana Gupta as the party’s new state president, replacing Mohan Lal Badoli.
With this appointment, Dr Archana Gupta has become the second woman to head the Haryana BJP in the party’s history. Before her, Dr Kamla Verma had served as the state president from 1980 to 1983.
A resident of Samalkha in Panipat district, Dr Archana Gupta is a radiology specialist and runs a diagnostic centre in Panipat. She holds MBBS and MD degrees in Radiology and is also a gold medallist in her field.
She comes from a family with a strong social and patriotic background. Her grandfather, Lala Sooraj Bhan of Atta village, was associated with the freedom movement.
Before entering active politics, she was associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and had launched an initiative named “Indian Health Line” in Panipat. Her political involvement increased after the BJP formed the government at the Centre in 2014.
In 2016, she was appointed district president of the BJP Mahila Morcha in Panipat. Her organisational work and grassroots outreach soon earned her a larger role within the party. On August 19, 2020, the BJP appointed her as Panipat district president, making her the second woman to hold the position.
During her tenure, she focused on strengthening the party’s presence in villages by forming committees at the grassroots level and expanding outreach programmes. Under her leadership, Panipat reportedly remained among the top-performing districts in the party’s internal organisational assessments.
She remained actively involved in party meetings, training camps and state-level organisational activities. Recognising her contribution, the BJP elevated her as state general secretary on January 3, 2024.
Apart from politics, Dr Archana Gupta has also been active in social and religious activities. During the Covid-19 pandemic, she extended medical assistance to many people in her capacity as a doctor.
