PTC Web Desk: Renowned Sufi singer and senior BJP leader Hans Raj Hans has announced his complete withdrawal from active politics, stating that he now wishes to dedicate himself entirely to music and spiritual practice. The former Member of Parliament from Delhi made these remarks while interacting with the media at the Press Club in Chandigarh.

When asked about the ongoing Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections and the BJP’s newly elected mayor Saurabh, Hans Raj Hans said he has no information about the elections or their outcomes. He clarified that he is no longer involved in political developments and has consciously distanced himself from political affairs.

Hans Raj Hans said his current priority is music and continuous practice, adding that this phase of life is devoted to spiritual growth through art. On the occasion, he also extended greetings to people on the 649th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji. Describing Guru Ravidas as a guide for the underprivileged, he said the saint strongly opposed caste-based discrimination.

Elaborating on the concept of “Begumpura,” Hans said that if the idea is truly understood and remembered, it could become a symbol of national harmony. He added that the word “Begum” itself represents a distinct identity rooted in equality and dignity.

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab, Hans Raj Hans expressed concern over threats reportedly issued by extremist organisations. He said that anyone visiting Punjab should feel safe and free from fear, and appealed for compassion and protection for all visitors.

Reacting to recent bomb threats targeting the Punjab Secretariat and Mini Secretariat in Chandigarh, he termed the issue serious and said it requires urgent attention from authorities. Speaking about a possible meeting with Prime Minister Modi, Hans remarked that “a meeting with a king happens only by the king’s will,” reiterating that he is no longer pursuing political engagement and remains focused on music alone.
