Amritpal Singh faces setback as Amritsar court frames charges in Ajnala police station attack case
PTC Web Desk: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Parinder Singh has framed several serious charges against Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, including attempt to murder, causing grievous injuries, obstructing public servants from performing duty, criminal conspiracy, damaging public property, and issuing death threats while leading an unlawful assembly.
However, the court dropped charges under the Arms Act and destruction of evidence after defence counsel Ritu Rai Sandhu argued that no weapon had been recovered from the accused. Accepting the argument, the court removed those sections from the case.
The matter will now proceed further with examination of evidence and witnesses in the coming hearings. The case had drawn massive attention in February 2023 after a large number of supporters gathered outside the Ajnala police station, leading to clashes and tension with the police.
