Insult to my mother is insult to every mother in India: PM Modi takes on RJD-Congress over abuse at Bihar rally
'I had never imagined that something like this would happen in tradition-rich Bihar. My mother, who is no longer alive, was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar', says PM Modi
PTC Web Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress after expletive-laden slogans targeting him and his late mother surfaced from a recent rally in Bihar. Calling the remarks "unimaginable" and deeply disrespectful, he said the incident was not only a personal insult but also an affront to women across India.
Addressing a public programme in Bihar, PM Modi expressed anguish over the episode, saying, “Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I had never imagined that something like this would happen in tradition-rich Bihar. My mother, who is no longer alive, was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar.”
The Prime Minister said the issue went beyond a personal attack. “These abuses are not just an insult to my mother. They are an insult to every mother, sister, and daughter of this country. I know how deeply hurt the women of Bihar felt after witnessing this. The pain in my heart is the same pain being shared by every family here,” he said.
PM Modi further questioned why his late mother, who had no involvement in politics, was dragged into partisan rivalry. “My mother had no connection with politics. Why did the RJD and Congress abuse her? What mindset makes them stoop to this level?” he asked.
The Prime Minister alleged that such behaviour reflects a mindset that views women as weak, stressing that the remarks made during the Congress’ ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ amounted to an insult against women across the nation.
Speaking at the launch of a new cooperative initiative aimed at boosting entrepreneurship among rural women linked to self-help groups, Narendra Modi also highlighted the NDA government’s work in Bihar to empower women. “This new cooperative will serve as a strong platform for the daughters and sisters of Bihar to move ahead with confidence and opportunities,” he added.
