Dengue outbreak continues in Ludhiana: 444 cases reported, one death confirmed
Over 35 wards have been equipped with beds, mosquito nets, ventilators, and platelet machines to manage severe cases
PTC Web Desk: The dengue outbreak in Ludhiana shows no signs of abating, with the district reporting a total of 444 cases so far, including one case of chikungunya. Tragically, the outbreak has also claimed one life.
The Ludhiana Health Department has strengthened measures at Ludhiana Civil Hospital, preparing dedicated wards for dengue patients. Over 35 wards have been equipped with beds, mosquito nets, ventilators, and platelet machines to manage severe cases. SMO Akhil Sareen confirmed that strict hygiene protocols have been implemented across the hospital to ensure patient safety.
Health authorities are continuously monitoring residential areas across the city. Teams from the Municipal Corporation and Health Department inspect rooftops, water tanks, tires, and other places where stagnant water can accumulate, as mosquito larvae thrive in standing water. Residents found with stagnant water on their property may face hefty fines imposed by the civic authorities.
Dr Ramandeep, Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana, emphasised that public awareness campaigns are ongoing to educate citizens about preventing mosquito breeding. Residents have been requested to ensure there is no stagnant water in and around their homes to curb the spread of dengue and chikungunya.
