SGPC chief Advocate Dhami pulls up staff over dress code, imposes Rs 2,100 penalty for violating protocol
PTC Web Desk: In a move aimed at reinforcing institutional discipline, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has taken strict action against staff members for allegedly violating the prescribed dress code during an official meeting.
According to sources, nearly 20 managers and accountants who attended a recent meeting wearing western attire, including coats, trousers, jeans and suits, were reprimanded by the SGPC chief. He directed each of them to deposit
Rs 2,100 in Guru’s Golak as a symbolic penalty for breaching the established maryada (code of conduct).
The incident occurred during a meeting of staff associated with gurdwaras that fall under Section 85 and whose administrative control was recently revised. Advocate Dhami is said to have emphasised that maintaining decorum and adhering to the traditional dress code is essential to preserving the sanctity and distinct identity of the institution.
It is noteworthy that the SGPC had earlier made it mandatory for its employees to wear kurta-pajama while on duty. The guideline was introduced to ensure that staff members remain easily identifiable among devotees and that the spiritual atmosphere of gurdwaras is upheld.
