Ferozepur-Jammu train explosion plot foiled: 17 arrested, explosive material including IED recovered

According to the preliminary investigation, the alleged mastermind behind the plot is Iqbal Singh alias Ravi Dhaliwal, who is currently based in the United Kingdom (UK) and is reportedly involved in criminal activities.

PTC News Desk: Punjab Police on Tuesday foiled a major terror conspiracy by arresting 17 accused and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), explosive material, electronic detonators, and a 9mm Glock pistol with a magazine.


According to the preliminary investigation, the alleged mastermind behind the plot is Iqbal Singh alias Ravi Dhaliwal, who is currently based in the United Kingdom (UK) and is reportedly involved in criminal activities. 

Police said the accused carried out a grenade attack on the Sadar Police Station in Moga on his instructions.


Investigators also revealed that the group had allegedly planned to plant an IED on a train travelling from Ferozepur to Jammu in an attempt to carry out a major explosion.


An FIR has been registered at Moga Sadar Police Station under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, the Explosives Act, and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.


Punjab Police said the investigation is ongoing. Raids are being carried out to identify other accused and associates linked to the terror network. The police added that they remain committed to dismantling terror modules and taking strict action against anti-national activities in the state.
