Ludhiana: 55-year-old woman seriously injured in purse snatching incident; chilling video goes viral

PTC Web Desk: Ludhiana continues to grapple with rising incidents of street crime, with elderly women increasingly becoming soft targets for snatchers. In the latest incident, a 55-year-old woman was left grievously injured after a miscreant on an Activa scooter attempted to snatch her purse in Model Town, Ludhiana.

According to CCTV footage, the accused first tried to grab the woman’s purse, causing her to lose balance and fall to the ground. She became unconscious on the spot. Shockingly, the accused, who had initially sped away, returned and once again tried to snatch the purse, dragging the woman several feet along the road in the process.

The victim suffered severe facial injuries and was immediately rushed to a private hospital, where doctors confirmed she had to undergo plastic surgery due to the extent of damage to her face.

Speaking to reporters, the victim’s daughter said the incident happened just outside their house, raising serious concerns over women’s safety in Ludhiana. “My mother was left badly injured. Women are not safe here. Despite it happening right near our home, such an attack took place. We demand strict action against the culprit,” she said.

Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered and that they are analysing CCTV footage to trace the accused. “The accused will be arrested at the earliest,” a senior police officer said.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing menace of snatching incidents in Ludhiana, with families of victims urging the authorities to step up security measures and ensure justice.
