Punjab police forcefully evict, detain protesting farmers at Warring toll plaza in Muktsar

The farmers were taken into the custody as they had staged a sit-in protest, however were later forcefully evicted from the protest site.

PTC News Desk: The Punjab police in a major crackdown on Wednesday, detained and evicted several protesting farmers at warring toll plaza in Muktsar. Heavy police force was deployed at the protest site accompanied by water cannon vehicles and buses to transport detained farmers and leaders. 


The farmers were taken into the custody as they had staged a sit-in protest, however were later forcefully evicted from the protest site. Reportedly they were taken to undisclosed location. The police also seized the tractor trolleys. motercyles and other belongings of the farmers.  



Acording to the reports, the farmers had been protesting at the Warring toll plaza for a long time to press the authorities over their long-standing demand of building a bridge over twin canals. Despite repeated assurance by the toll plaza authorities, no significant development was seen. 


Several rounds of talks were held with the representatives of the toll plaza company, which remained inconclusive.
