World-class university dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to come up at Sri Anandpur Sahib: CM Mann
The announcement was made while addressing a gathering at an event to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
PTC News Desk: A day after declaring Anandpur Sahib holy city, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that a world class university named after ninth Sikh Guru will be established here.
The announcement was made while addressing a gathering at an event to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. "A world-class university in the name of Guru Tegh Bahadur will be set up here ," he said.
CM Mann further said that the varsity will serve as a global centre for high quality education, research and interfaith studies inspired by Guru's message of human rights. “Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur ji laid down his life for defending the right to faith and freedom. Establishing a world-class university in his name is the least we can do to inspire future generations with his teachings,” he said.
Punjab CM further announced that free e-rickshaw or mini bus service will also soon be operational for people to visit gurdwaras in Amritsar, Talwandi Sabo in Bathinda district and Anandpur Sahib in Rupnagar district. The expenditure will be borne by the government.
The CM also said a heritage street will also come up in Anandpur Sahib.
The announcements were made a day after the Punjab Assembly passed resolution to declare Sri Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo and Galiyara of Golden Temple as holy cities.
The sale and use of meat, liquor, tobacco, and other intoxicants will be prohibited in these cities, he had further said.
