Punjab and Haryana HC directs Balwant Singh Rajoana to undergo eye surgery at PGIMER
Rajoana had complained of cataracts in his eyes and he was subsequently examined at PGIMER in Chandigarh.
PTC News Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday directed Balwant Singh Rajoana to undergo his medical treatment at PGIMER in Chandigarh and rejected his petition seeking permission to get treatment in Patiala regarding his eyes.
Rajoana had complained of cataracts in his eyes and he was subsequently examined at PGIMER in Chandigarh. He later approached the High Court, seeking permission to undergo treatment at Dr R.S. Randhawa Eye Hospital, a private hospital in Patiala.
In his petition, Rajoana said he had developed cataracts in both eyes, which were causing him pain. He requested permission to undergo surgery.
He told the court that he had been examined at PGIMER in January this year. He also said that he had been lodged in Patiala Jail for the past 30 years and was willing to undergo treatment at his own expense under police security.
High court directs treatment at PGIMER
The High Court questioned why Rajoana needed treatment at a private hospital in Patiala when his eyes had already been examined at PGIMER in January.
The court subsequently disposed of the petition and directed that Rajoana should receive his treatment at PGIMER in Chandigarh.
