Sukhbir Badal meets Punjab Governor, seeks CBI probe into Rs 5 crore allegation involving CM Manns wife

PTC Web Desk: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has made serious allegations against the Punjab Government, claiming that the Chief Minister’s Office and family members were being used to influence police cases.

Sukhbir Singh Badal made the allegations after leading a senior SAD delegation to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Thursday. The delegation raised concerns over the law and order situation and demanded a CBI investigation into the allegations.

The SAD leader also demanded the immediate removal of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and sought action against officials allegedly involved in the matter.

‘CM’s house has become single window for work’

Addressing the media after meeting the Governor, Sukhbir Singh Badal alleged that the residence of the Punjab Chief Minister had effectively become a “sewa kendra” and a “single window” for getting work done.

He claimed that people were allegedly being asked to pay money to the Chief Minister’s wife to get various matters handled.

The SAD president alleged that the system had become a major source of corruption and demanded an independent investigation.

Serious allegations over rape cases

Sukhbir Badal also raised allegations concerning rape cases involving a US citizen, whom he identified as Guri Chahal.

According to the allegations made by him, two women had approached the police after allegedly being raped. One case was reportedly registered in Mohali, while another was registered in Amritsar.

He claimed that one of the alleged victims appeared before a judge and recorded her statement.

Sukhbir Badal further alleged that the accused was not involved in only two cases and claimed that as many as five women had approached the Chief Minister alleging that they had been sexually assaulted by the same person.

The SAD chief alleged that senior police officers were called after the complaints were made but claimed that pressure was subsequently applied to settle or close the cases.

He further alleged that the accused contacted the Chief Minister’s wife and that a demand of Rs 5 crore was made in exchange for providing a clean chit and helping the accused avoid legal action.

He alleged that evidence supporting the allegations exists in the form of video recordings, chats and records relating to meetings.

He said the matter should therefore be investigated by an independent agency rather than being handled by the state police.

Sukhbir Badal also alleged that the accused persons were given political and administrative support to obtain a clean chit.

He claimed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his wife allegedly called senior police officials and allegedly asked them to give a clean chit to the accused.

Sukhbir Badal also referred to material that SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia had earlier presented in connection with the allegations.

According to him, the evidence includes recordings and messages that could help establish what happened and who was involved.

The SAD has now demanded that the entire matter be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) so that the allegations can be examined independently.

Sukhbir Badal alleged that the Mohali SSP, now shifted to Patiala, was under pressure to give a clean chit in the matter. 

The SAD demanded that the circumstances surrounding the transfer and the alleged pressure on police officials be investigated.

Rajveer Singh OSD also under scanner

The SAD delegation also raised the issue of Rajveer Singh Ghuman, an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Chief Minister.

Sukhbir Badal alleged that the OSD had come under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and demanded his immediate removal from the Chief Minister’s Office.

The SAD leader also alleged that despite communications from the ED, appropriate action had not been taken by the state police.

After presenting its allegations before the Governor, the SAD demanded that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann be removed from office.

The party said the allegations involving women, police officials, the Chief Minister’s Office and the alleged Rs 5 crore transaction were serious and required an independent probe.

Sukhbir Badal urged Governor Kataria to intervene and ensure that the matter is investigated without political or administrative pressure.
