We do not want Akshay Kumar as brand ambassador of Ferguson tractors: Farmers

Amid farmers protest against farm laws 2020, a farmers' representative has urged Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) CEO to remove Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar as a brand ambassador of Massey Ferguson tractors in India.

In a letter to Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE) CEO Sandeep Sinha, a farmer representative wrote: "On behalf of the farmers, I request you to remove Akshay Kumar as the Brand Ambassador of Massey Ferguson tractors in India."

"As you may know that farmers are protesting on the borders of Delhi since November 26, 2020. Akshay has not spoken a word in support of farmers till date," it added.

The letter further stated that "Tractor is the main tool of farmers. Farmers regard their tractor as God. Kumar benefits from the farmers indirectly. If he continues to be your Brand Ambassador we will boycott your tractors as well."

"Kindly remove Mr. Akshay Kumar as your brand ambassador as soon as possible and find another brand ambassador for Massey Ferguson tractors," the farmer representative wrote further.

It is pertinent to mention that the farmers have already called for a boycott of all Reliance products in an order to protest against farm laws.

The farmers’ have been protesting against three farm laws 2020 i.e. the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
