PTC News Desk: In a major breakthrough for the ongoing manhunt carried for ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh, on Thursday Punjab's Inspector General of Police (IGP), Headquarters, Sukhchain Singh Gill, revealed that the Waris Punjab De chief`s last location was in Haryana.

According to the sources, on Friday Haryana Police said it has stepped up vigil across the state and its personnel have been put on high-alert after radical preacher Amritpal Singh’s last location was traced in the Kurukshetra district. Amritpal Singh and his partner Papalpreet were spotted carrying an umbrella.

A startling revelation was at a press conference on Thursday, Punjab Inspector General of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill said, the Punjab Police as well as Central agencies were on hot pursuit of Amritpal Singh. He said his last location had been traced to Haryana’s Shahbad, where he took shelter in a woman’s house on March 19 night. The Punjab Police have also released the latest footage showing the 'Waris Punjab De' head walking with umbrella in one hand and a bag in other. The footage is from Kurukshetra.

He said after leaving Nangal Ambian gurdwara, Amritpal Singh took a motorcycle and reached Sheikhupura. From there, he crossed the Sutlej along with one of his aides Papalpreet on an abandoned railway bridge between Phillaur and Laddowal. From there, he reached Hardy's World. He probably took a truck to cross over to Haryana. A police team also reached Shahbad after a tip-off, but Amritpal had left by then. The woman, in whose house he had taken shelter, and her brother, who is SDM's reader, have been detained. 

The IG said 207 arrests had been made so far, of which 30 were hardcore criminals. He said 177 were preventive arrests and they would be released in due course.
