69th National Film Awards: Women empowerment is a powerful movement that aims to create equal opportunities, rights, and representation for women in all spheres of life. It recognises the inherent value and potential of women and seeks to eliminate the barriers that hinder their progress.

Ms Waheeda Rehman has been conferred with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award for outstanding contribution to Indian cinema. With her art and personality, veteran actor Ms Waheeda Rehman has established herself at the pinnacle of the film industry. 

With her dignity, self-confidence and originality, she set an example that women themselves should also take initiative for women empowerment.

Waheeda Rehman is best known for her her work in films like Guide, Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool and Chaudhvin Ka Chaand. Her accolades include the Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri

For her role of empowered female characters in Indian films and increasing sensitivity and respect for women in the society, Bollywood Diva has been conferred with the prestigious Best Actress Award at the 69th National Film Awards for her performance in the film 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' 

Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' revolves around a maiden sold by a suitor into prostitution and how she becomes a prominent and celebrated figure in the underworld and Kamathipua red-light district.


Alia's stellar performance in the film helped her bag the Best Actress Award at IIFA 2023 and Filmfare Awards 2023.

Actor Kriti Sanon was conferred with the Best Actress Award at the 69th National Film Awards here on Tuesday for her performance in the film 'Mimi'

'Mimi' tells the story of a young woman named Mimi (Kriti) who agrees to become a surrogate mother for a foreign couple, hoping to use the money to fulfil her dream of becoming an actress. However, the biological parents back out when they learn that the child will be born with Down syndrome. Mimi then decided to raise the child on her own and faced several challenges and societal pressures as a single mother. Her journey as a mother and her struggle to provide for her child despite the odds is both heartwarming and inspiring.

Actor Pallavi Joshi on Tuesday bagged the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in the film 'The Kashmir Files' at the 69th National Film Awards

'The Kashmir Files,' on the life of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990 Kashmir insurgency, is based on first-generation video interviews of victims of the Kashmiri massacre, making an account of their pain, suffering, struggle and trauma.

Helmed by Vivek Agnihotri the film starred Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumaar in the lead roles.


‘Indian singers achieves great acclaim and recognition in Indian music industry’

Versatile and renowned Indian singer, known for her melodious and soulful voice Shreya Ghoshal received the Best Female Playback Singer award at the 69th National Film Awards for the song 'Mayava Chayava' from the tamil film 'Iravin Nizhal'.

This marks Shreya's fifth National Film Award.

She won her first National Award in 2003 for her song 'Bairy Piya' in 'Devdas'. Later she bagged the National Awards for 'Dheere Jalna' (Paheli) and 'Yeh Ishq Haaye' (Jab We Met). In 2010, she won a National Award for not one but two songs -- 'Jiv Dangla' from the Marathi film 'Jogva' and 'Pherari Mon' from the Bangla movie 'Antaheen'.
