PTC Web Desk: An Indian woman living in South Korea was pleasantly surprised after discovering that her neighbour had sought residents’ consent before beginning renovation work at an apartment.

The unusual gesture was captured in a video shared on Instagram, where the woman can be seen returning home and finding a consent form attached to her front door. What caught her attention even more was that a pen had also been placed alongside the form, making it easy for residents to sign it immediately.

The video further showed that similar notices had been placed outside the homes of other neighbours in the apartment complex.

Neighbour informs residents before starting renovation

According to the Instagram post, the consent form was related to construction or renovation work that could potentially cause inconvenience to people living nearby. Sharing her experience, the woman praised the approach and said she was impressed by how residents were informed in advance about possible disruptions.

The post also highlighted the small but thoughtful detail of attaching a pen with the notice, allowing neighbours to provide their consent without having to look for one themselves.

The video was shared by the Instagram account ‘travelandeatwith_passion’ and quickly attracted reactions from social media users, particularly Indians who compared the practice with what they are accustomed to seeing back home.

Several users found the pen attached to the notice particularly amusing. One person joked, “India mein sabse pehle pen hi gayab hoga,” suggesting that the pen would probably disappear before anyone got around to signing the form.

Another user wrote, “Hamare yahan to bank me bhi pen bandh ke rakhte hai,” pointing out that even banks in India often keep pens secured.

Others focused on the importance of informing neighbours before carrying out work that could create noise or inconvenience.
