PTC Web Desk: A Rapido bike taxi rider in Bengaluru has been booked for allegedly attempting to inappropriately touch a woman passenger during a ride. The woman, who managed to capture a video of the incident, later approached the police to file a complaint.

According to police officials, the incident took place around 4 pm on Thursday. Following the complaint, the Wilson Garden Police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation into the matter. A statement from Rapido is still awaited.

“Bhaiya, Kya Kar Rahe Ho...?”

The victim recounted her ordeal in an Instagram post, stating that while returning to her paying guest accommodation from Church Street, the Rapido rider suddenly tried to grab her legs while driving.

“It happened so quickly that I couldn’t even react or record it the first time. When he did it again, I told him, ‘Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo (What are you doing? Please stop),’ but he didn’t listen,” she wrote.

The woman added that she was unable to ask the rider to pull over as she was new to the city and unfamiliar with the area.

Upon reaching her destination, a bystander noticed her distress and intervened. “When I explained what had happened, the man confronted the rider. The captain apologised but later pointed his finger at me in a way that made me feel even more unsafe,” she alleged.

The woman said she shared the incident on social media to raise awareness. “No woman should have to experience this, whether in a cab, on a bike, or anywhere else. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, but today, I couldn’t stay silent,” she wrote.

The police have identified the accused rider as Lokesh and are investigating the case.
