Swarm of bees hijack Jaipur-bound Indigo aircraft, delays take off by an hour

PTC News Desk: In a shockingly unbelievable incident, a large swarm of bees attacked a Jaipur bound Indigo flight and delayed take off for more than an hour. The bees gathered on the aircraft's luggage door refused to leave despite multiple efforts by the ground staff and emergency responders.

The incident unfolded on Monday at around 4:20 pm when the Indigot flight 6E-7285  from Surat to Jaipur was preparing to take off shortly encountered an unprecedented swarm of bees converged around the cargo hold area.

The unexpected delay left the passengers perplexed until the crew explained the situation.

Initially, several attempts were made to disperse the bees using smoke spray and water which proved to be futile as the water attracted more bees at the moment.

After nearly an hour of persistent efforts involving both smoke and water sprays, the authorities successfully removed the bees from the flight. The aircraft eventually departed at 5:26 exactly one hour after the scheduled take off.

The airport authorities said that this is a first such incident at Surat Airport  and further measures are being reviewed to avoid any such incident in future. Surat Airport management reportedly has launched an internal review and will consult with the forest and wildlife departments to identify the source of the bee swarm and prevent future occurrences.
