Coronavirus risk of death: Men with lower income, a lower level of education, not married, and born in low-or middle-income are at an elevated risk of dying from COVID-19, a report said.

According to the study author Sven Drefahl from Stockholm University in Sweden, there are independent effects of various separate risk factors that have been brought up in debates about Covid-19.

The factors are accordingly individually associated with a strongly elevated risk of dying from Covid-19, Drefahl added.

The study is based on data provided by the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare on COVID deaths in Sweden. These include adults aged 20 and older.

As per the study published in the journal Nature Communications, Drefahl has explained that those born abroad generally have lower mortality than the people born in Sweden.

The research took income and level of education into account where the risk of dying from the novel virus for this group remains.

The study also revealed that being a man, with a lower income and lower level of education led to an elevated risk of dying from the contagion disease.

The research also showed that men are at high risk of dying from Covid-19 than women.

The unmarried men and women (including those never married, widows/widowers and the divorced) had 1.5-2 times as high a risk of dying from the deadly disease as those who were married.

Several studies apart from the COVID-19 report have also stated that single and unmarried people have higher mortality from various diseases.
