Watch: Deep Sidhu cremated in Ludhiana amid slogans of 'Deep Sidhu Amar rahe'

Ludhiana, February 16: Punjabi actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu (37), who was the key suspect in the Republic Day violence at the Red Fort in Delhi in 2021, was cremated at Threeke village in Ludhiana on Wednesday. Earlier, his body was kept at his younger brother Mandeep Singh's house in the village. People from across Punjab, including from his native village of Muktsar, came to offer their condolences to the family.  Most people who attended the cremation described his death as a planned conspiracy. Among prominent personalities who attended the cremation were Simarjit Singh Mann of SAD(Amritsar), Lakha Sidhana and singer Gagan Anmol Mann etc Sidhu was a close aide of BJP MP Sunny Deol, who contested from the Gurdaspur seat in Punjab during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He had remained with Sunil Deol during the poll campaigning. Sunny Deol took to twitter to mourn the demise of Punjabi actor. Notably, Deep Sidhu was facing a criminal trial for engineering the Red Fort violence on Republic Day in 2021. He died during a road accident near Pipli toll plaza in the Kharkhhoda area of Sonepat, Haryana. He was travelling with his friend Reena Rai, who escaped unhurt.
