PTC Web Desk: Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky received a detailed briefing from US President Donald Trump about his high-stakes summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin held in Alaska on Saturday. According to a report by Axios, Zelensky is expected to travel to Washington as early as Monday, August 18.
The White House confirmed that Trump held an extended phone conversation with Zelensky while returning from Alaska to Washington. During the call, Trump also connected with NATO leaders to share his perspective on the summit.
It is learnt Trump emphasised the need for swift action in ending the conflict, saying, “A fast peace deal is better than a ceasefire.” The conversation with Zelensky and European leaders reportedly lasted around ninety minutes, highlighting Washington’s ongoing efforts to shape the next phase of diplomacy in the Russia-Ukraine war.
