PTC News Desk: A video showing an American man confronting an Indian couple and telling them to “go back to India” during an unprovoked roadside interaction has sparked widespread criticism online after being shared on social media.

In the video, the man was heard asking the couple, “Are you from India?” After they replied yes, he continued the conversation by asking whether they liked America and which country they believed was better, America or India.

The clip, posted on X by a user named Tone, appears to show him recording from inside his car before approaching an Indian couple and questioning them about their background and why they were in the United States. The couple responded calmly, saying that both countries have their own strengths, with India offering strong family ties while each place has its own value.

However, the conversation soon turned confrontational.

The man is then heard saying, “India is so incredible, why don’t you just stay in India? Why do you have to come to America?” When the couple replied that they wanted “to explore the world,” he responded, “No, we don’t want you here. You got to go home. Okay? Get out of my country.”

The video was shared with the caption: “I encountered some incredible H-1B Indians, and I had to let them know something!” It quickly drew strong backlash online, with many users calling the remarks discriminatory and unnecessary.

Several commenters highlighted that immigrants and legal visitors contribute to the economy and society, including through taxes, questioning the hostility shown toward them.

Others described the exchange as an example of racism being framed as patriotism, arguing that targeting people based on nationality or ethnicity reflects intolerance rather than national pride. Many also expressed sympathy for the couple, noting that they remained calm and composed throughout the incident despite the remarks directed at them.
