PTC Web Desk: An Indian tourist has died after he and three others reportedly lost consciousness under mysterious circumstances at a cafe in Thailand’s Phuket province, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the Kamala Beach area of Kathu district during the early hours of Saturday. According to local reports, five Indian nationals had arrived together at the cafe late on Friday evening. A few hours later, four of them suddenly became unconscious one after another, creating panic among staff members present at the spot.

All four were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Thai authorities later confirmed that one of the tourists died during treatment, while the remaining three are currently in stable condition and continue to receive medical care.

The Indian Embassy in Thailand expressed grief over the death and said officials are in touch with both the family of the deceased and local authorities.

In a statement shared on X, the embassy said it is closely following the case and extending all possible assistance to the affected individuals and their families.

The exact reason behind the tourists losing consciousness has not been officially confirmed so far. Thai authorities are investigating the matter to determine what led to the incident.

Local media reports stated that security staff at the cafe noticed the group collapsing one after another around 1.54 am and immediately alerted emergency services.

Further details regarding the deceased tourist and the ongoing investigation are awaited.
