PTC News Desk: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his India visitscheduled for later this year due to security reasons after the deadly terror attack in Delhi near Red Fort earlier this month. One of the worst explosion that rocked the national capital in more than a decade leaving 15 people dead and several others injured.

"Netanyahu, who last visited India in 2018 and was set to return for meetings with PM Modi, is now expected to seek a new date next year pending security assessments," Israeli media wrote.

It was earlier reported that Netanyahu was planning to visit India before the end of this year.

Earlier, Netanyahu had cancelled a planned day-long visit to India on September 9, saying he had scheduling problems because Israel was heading into an unusual second round of elections on September 17. He had similarly cancelled a visit before the April elections as well.

In Israel, the visit was largely viewed as Netanyahu’s attempt to show that he is accepted and respected internationally. In July, his political party even displayed banners showing him alongside PM Modi, US President Donald Trump, and Russian President Vladimir Putin to appeal to voters by presenting him as a leader in a “different league.”

His election campaign has highlighted his close relationships with major world leaders and has tried to portray him as a uniquely strong figure in Israeli politics—something he argues is essential for Israel’s security.
