Lakshmanan Meyyappan has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant after achieving the qualification at 16 years and 141 days
PTC Web Desk: While most teenagers are busy thinking about school, college and future career choices, Lakshmanan Meyyappan had already completed a professional accounting qualification.
Meyyappan has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest male Chartered Accountant. He achieved the record in Dubai at the age of 16 years and 141 days, according to Guinness World Records.
His achievement has brought attention to his unusual academic journey and early interest in finance.

Meyyappan's journey into finance began during the COVID-19 pandemic, shortly after he completed his Class 10 board examinations. According to an earlier profile by PwC Academy, his mother, who is also an ACCA, introduced him to basic accounting during the lockdown. The subject caught his interest and he decided to pursue the ACCA qualification himself.
At just 15 years old, Meyyappan began preparing for ACCA. He completed the qualification in around a year.
From ACCA to CFA
Completing ACCA was only the beginning for Meyyappan. After finishing the accounting qualification, he went on to earn the CFA charter and is now pursuing an MSc in Finance. His academic journey has continued alongside his professional career, giving him experience in different areas of finance.
Working as a senior research analyst in Dubai
Meyyappan is currently working as a Senior Research Analyst at Century Financial in Dubai. His work involves areas such as investment research, financial analysis and decision-making in financial markets.
This has allowed him to put his academic knowledge into practical use while continuing his higher education.
He also designs watches
Finance is not Meyyappan's only interest. Outside his studies and professional work, he enjoys designing and building watches. The hobby gives him an opportunity to explore a completely different area away from accounting and financial markets.
‘I have never approached qualifications as a race’
Speaking about his Guinness World Records achievement, Meyyappan said the record was meaningful to him but was never his main goal. He said his focus was on understanding how finance works in the real world and developing skills that remain useful over time. His approach, he said, has been driven more by curiosity and learning than by speed.
