PTC News Desk: Pakistan has extended its ban on Indian aircraft using its airspace by another month. The restriction applies to aircraft registered in India, as well as planes owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines. It also covers Indian military flights and will remain in place until 4:59 am local time on November 24, 2026, the Pakistan Airports Authority said.

The ban was first introduced on April 23, 2025, and has been extended several times amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. The authority announced the latest extension in a post on X on Saturday. According to Geo News, a spokesperson said a new official aviation notice had been issued to continue the restriction.

Pakistan’s airspace is divided into two flight information regions, Karachi and Lahore. The latest notice covers both regions.

India and Pakistan introduced similar restrictions on each other’s aircraft after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in April 2025. India accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack, but Islamabad denied the allegation. The incident led to a sharp increase in diplomatic and military tensions between the two countries.

In response to Pakistan’s move, India closed its airspace to Pakistani airlines on April 30, 2025. Pakistan had also imposed restrictions on Indian aircraft during previous periods of tension, including the 1999 Kargil conflict and the 2019 Pulwama crisis.

The continued restrictions have disrupted airline operations, forcing carriers to take longer routes on some international flights. Pakistan’s latest extension means the specified Indian civilian and military aircraft will remain barred from its airspace until November 24, 2026.
