80 Israeli fighter jets carried out overnight strikes across Iran overnight
PTC News Desk: The ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran entered its eighth day on Saturday, marking over 100 hours since American forces launched strikes against Iranian targets. The escalating hostilities have reportedly claimed more than 1,000 lives so far, intensifying fears of a wider regional war in the Middle East.
Gulf countries said they intercepted more ballistic missiles and drones on Saturday after Iran launched another round of retaliatory attacks.
Saudi Arabia said early Saturday that it shot down four drones targeting the large Shaybah oil field. This was the second attack on the site within a few hours. In Dubai, residents reported hearing several explosions in the morning. Authorities in the United Arab Emirates said there was a “minor incident” caused by falling debris after a missile interception.
At the same time, warplanes from Israel carried out heavy airstrikes in Beirut and Tehran. The death toll kept rising on Saturday, with at least 1,230 people killed in Iran, more than 200 in Lebanon, and around a dozen in Israel, according to officials. Six US soldiers were also reported killed.
The conflict continued to grow more intense with no clear end. The administration of Donald Trump approved a new $151 million arms sale to Israel after he said the US would not negotiate with Iran unless it agreed to an “unconditional surrender.”
