Baisakhi celebrations: Sikh jatha to visit gurdwaras in Pakistan on April 12

Amritsar, April 7: A group of Sikh pilgrims is set to depart for Pakistan on April 12 to participate in Baisakhi celebrations at Sri Panja Sahib gurdwara. The Sikh jatha will also visit other historical shrines in Pakistan. The jatha will arrive at Sri Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal on April 12, said SGPC secretary Mohinder Singh, adding that the group will take part in the congregations to be organised at the gurdwara on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Baisakhi festival). Further, the group will depart for Nankana Sahib on April 14; on April 16, it will visit gurdwara Sacha Sauda Sahib and visit gurdwara Dehra Sahib in Lahore on April 17 and 18. The Sikh jatha will also visit gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur and gurdwara Rorhi Sahib at Eminabad on April 19 and 20, respectively. In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, pilgrims must follow the health department's guidelines, according to Mohinder Singh. Sikh pilgrims to visit Pak gurdwaras for Baisakhi (3) “Besides Covid-19 negative report 72 hours prior departure, both doses of vaccines against Covid-19 are mandatory for the pilgrims going to Pakistan. SGPC is making arrangements for the same,” he added. He further informed that SGPC is organising a Covid-19 testing camp, in coordination with the health department, at the SGPC office in Amritsar on April 9 and 10. Those going to Pakistan can get their test conducted during this camp, while they can also get their Covid-19 test conducted on their own.
