Unlock 4: Chandigarh lifts night curfew in compliance of Centre's directives

Days after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced new guidelines for opening up more activities in containment zones, the Chandigarh Administration on Monday announced guidelines for Unlock 4. The UT Chandigarh has decided to lift the night curfew in compliance with the Central Government’s directives under Unlock 4. The Chandigarh Administration in its order stated that the Chairman, National Executive Committee (NEC), in the exercise of the powers under section 6(2)(i) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 has issued comprehensive orders on August 29 regarding the re-opening of more activities in areas outside Containment Zones and to extend the lockdown in Containment zones up to September 30. Earlier, UT Adviser Manoj Parida had stated that "UT Chandigarh will strictly follow Union Government orders in letter and in spirit, as it has been doing so far." According to the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions will continue to remain closed for students and regular class activity up to September 30 in Chandigarh as well. The students of Class 9 to 12 will be permitted to visit their schools on a voluntary basis for taking guidance from their teachers. -PTC News
