The government of India on Monday banned 59 mobile apps including Tik Tok, UC Browser, and other Chinese apps. The order issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) stated that 59 apps that have been banned by the Government of India “are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order”.

The development comes amid the heightened tensions between India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) after the violent clash between the two countries at the Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh.

Also, the Indian Army has deployed more troops and has started building defences at the Galwan Valley, Pangong Tso, Gogra-Hot Springs, Depsang and several other places in eastern Ladakh as the troops of both the sides are in an eyeball-to-eyeball situation at the Line of Actual Control.

An unspecified number of Chinese troops were killed in the clash on the intervening night of June 15 and 16 in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed.
