Government of India bans 59 Chinese mobile apps including Tik Tok, UC Browser

The government of India on Monday banned 59 mobile apps including Tik Tok, UC Browser, and other Chinese apps. The order issued by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) stated that 59 apps that have been banned by the Government of India "are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order”. The development comes amid the heightened tensions between India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) after the violent clash between the two countries at the Galwan Valley in Eastern Ladakh.
