Covid strain in India: Kejriwal questions Centre on lifting temporary ban on India-UK flights
Mutant coronavirus strain: Amid Covid strain in India, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday questioned the Centre's decision to lift the temporary blanket ban on India-UK flights.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter and wrote: "Centre has decided to lift the ban and start UK flights."

"In view of extremely serious COVID-19 situation in the UK, I would urge central govt to extend the ban till January 31," he added.
In another tweet, he questioned: "With great difficulty, people have brought COVID situation in control. UK’s COVID situation is very serious. Now, why lift the ban and expose our people to risk?"

On Wednesday evening, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday stated that the total number of cases infected with the UK’s mutant coronavirus strain now stands at 73.
Among these 73 cases of Covid strain in India, NCDC New Delhi had reported 8 cases, IGIB New Delhi recorded 20, NCBG Kalyani (Kolkata) 1, NIV Pune 30, CCMB Hyderabad 3, and NIMHANS Bengaluru 11.
Meanwhile, the Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, on the resumption of India-UK flights, made it clear as he had said that the decision has been taken on the limited resumption of civil aviation traffic between India and the United Kingdom, based on an assessment of available facts.”
