On Earth Day, PM Modi gives a shout out to all those working at the forefront to defeat COVID-19
It's International Earth Day and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the people to pledge to work towards a cleaner, healthier and more prosperous planet. Earth Day is an annual event celebrated across the globe on April 22 to demonstrate support for the protection of the environment.
It was first celebrated in 1970, which now includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries.
"On International Day of Mother Earth, we all express gratitude to our planet for the abundance of care and compassion. Let us pledge to work towards a cleaner, healthier and more prosperous planet. A shout out to all those working at the forefront to defeat COVID-19," PM Modi said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal said in a tweet: "On this World Earth Day let us remind ourselves about the urgent need to protect our mother earth and pledge to keep it healthy for future generations."

Likewise, Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal took to Twitter and wrote: "As we celebrate the Earth Day, it is our duty to ensure that we live in harmony with nature and make the mother earth better with our existence. Let us all pledge to nurture it for a better & healthier tomorrow."
