Dhurandhar 2 Director Aditya Dhar issues clarification on Ranveer Singh's viral turban image row
Filmmaker Aditya Dhar on Thursday issued a public statement addressing a controversy surrounding an image allegedly depicting Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza/Jaskirat, smoking while wearing a turban. The director clarified that the image is AI-generated and is being circulated to “provoke and create mischief.”

The clarification follows a complaint filed by Sardar Gurjyot Singh, president of the organization “Sikhs in Maharashtra,” at Mumbai’s Mulund Police Station. The complaint claimed that the image hurts Sikh sentiments, as it shows the character in traditional Sikh attire engaging in an act considered disrespectful to the community and its religious values, including reverence for Guru Gobind Singh.
Aditya Dhar shares clarification about Ranveer's false image
Responding firmly, Aditya Dhar warned of strict action against those responsible and urged audiences to trust only verified material. He restated his deep respect for the Sikh community and emphasized that the film’s portrayal has been handled with “utmost sensitivity, dignity, and responsibility.”
“I am deeply grateful and indebted for the overwhelming love that Dhurandhar The Revenge has received from audiences across the country and the world,” Dhar wrote. “However, it has come to my attention that certain individuals are circulating manipulated visuals by morphing officially released promotional material using artificial intelligence to create false and misleading narratives.”
He added, “One such fabricated image falsely depicts the character Hamza/Jaskirat smoking while wearing a turban. This is completely untrue and does not form part of the film or any official material released by us. It is a deliberate act of misrepresentation intended to provoke and create mischief.”
“I urge audiences to rely only on official content and watch the film as it is intended, and not fall prey to AI-generated misinformation being circulated with ulterior motives,” Dhar concluded, warning that “such acts will be dealt with firmly.”
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar The Revenge continues its successful run, crossing ₹1,000 crore worldwide within just seven days of release.
