Drishyam 3 box office Day 1: Ajay Devgn’s film races past Rs 46 crore, beats Pathaan’s ticket-selling pace

PTC Web Desk:  Ajay Devgn’s 'Drishyam 3', officially titled 'Drishyam: The Conclusion', has opened to a strong response at the box office. The third and final chapter of the popular thriller franchise hit cinemas on October 2 and appears to have benefited heavily from its huge pre-release buzz and strong audience interest.

The film had already created a buzz before its theatrical release, with advance bookings opening on September 27. It collected around Rs 27 crore from opening-day advance bookings, placing it among the highest pre-release collections for a Hindi film. By the time it arrived in theatres, its total advance booking collection had crossed ₹50 crore, with nearly 13 lakh tickets reportedly sold.

That momentum has carried into the first day. 'Drishyam: The Conclusion' recorded around 40% occupancy during morning shows across India, while several tier-2 and tier-3 markets witnessed even stronger footfall.

According to early box office figures, the film had collected Rs 46.35 crore net in India by 6 PM on its opening day. With evening and night shows still remaining, the final Day 1 figure could rise further.

Movie beats several major openings

The film's opening has also put it ahead of several major Hindi releases in terms of their reported first-day collections. 'Drishyam 3' has already crossed the opening-day figures of films such as 'Border 2', 'Mirzapur The Movie' and 'Awarapan 2' based on the figures cited in early trade reports.

The film was initially expected to open in the Rs 25-30 crore range, but the exceptional advance sales prompted trade estimates to rise ahead of release.

Another interesting benchmark has emerged on BookMyShow. During Friday afternoon, Drishyam 3 reportedly touched a peak of around 70,000 tickets sold per hour, surpassing Pathaan, which had reached approximately 68,000 tickets per hour during its 2023 release.

With only the first few shows contributing to the Rs 46.35 crore figure, the film is now positioned for a potentially much bigger final opening-day tally.

Drishyam: The Conclusion cast and story

Drishyam: The Conclusion brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, along with Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav and Kamlesh Sawant.

The third instalment also features newcomers to the franchise, including Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj and Saurabh Shukla. The film has been written and directed by Abhishek Pathak and marks the latest chapter in the story of Vijay Salgaonkar and his family. With the franchise heading towards its concluding chapter, audience curiosity has been a major factor behind the film's strong opening.
