Pahalgam, August 16: A bus carrying 37 ITBP personnel and two Jammu and Kashmir policemen skidded off a road and fell into a riverbed in Pahalgam on Tuesday. As per reports, the incident took pace after the breaks of the vehicle failed and it went out of control. As many as seven ITBP personnel lost their lives in the accident. The injured have been airlifted to Srinagar's Army hospital. The deceased ITBP personnel were identified as head constable Dula Singh (Taran Taran, Punjab); constable Abhiraj (Lakhisarai, Bihar); constable Amit K (Etah, UP); constable D Raj Shekhar (Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh); constable Subhash C Bairwal (Sikar Rajasthan); constable Dinesh Bohra (Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand) and constable Sandeep Kumar from Jammu. accident3 (1) The accident took place when they were on their way from Chandanwari to Pahalgam. Taking to his official Twitter handle, J&K Lt Governor wrote, "Deeply anguished by the bus accident near Chandanwari in which we have lost our brave ITBP personnel. My condolences to bereaved families & prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured. All possible assistance is being provided to the injured personnel." Earlier in the day, the PRO, ITBP released an official saying; "Our 6 jawans have lost their lives, 30 injured. We will provide the best possible treatment to the injured. ITBP HQ is keeping a watch on the situation. The jawans were returning from Amarnath Yatra duty. All help will be provided to the affected families."
