Himachal Pradesh pickup accident: 4 pilgrims from Punjab's Moga dead, 23 injured near Kangra

PTC Web Desk: In a tragic accident early Thursday morning, a pickup carrying pilgrims from Punjab plunged into a deep gorge near Jadrangal in Kangra district. The mishap claimed the lives of four pilgrims, while 23 others sustained injuries. The injured are currently receiving treatment at Tanda Medical College and Hospital.

According to reports, 29 pilgrims from Moga, Punjab, were returning from a visit to the Chamunda Temple when the accident occurred around 7.30 am. Local residents and police personnel immediately rushed to the spot to rescue the injured and took the injured to nearby medical facilities.


A female pilgrim died at the site, while three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The deceased are two women and two men. The accident took place near Bailey Hotel on the Chamunda-Dharamshala road.

Doctors at Tanda Medical College said 13 of the injured remain in critical condition, while 10 others sustained minor injuries and were under treatment.

The deceased pilgrims are Lambi Singh (35), Jasveer Singh (35, Paramjeet Kaur (40) an d Kiran (33).

The injured pilgrims are Karim Singh (35), Harpreet Singh (9), Anmol Singh (13), Jaspreet Singh (8), Satnam (13), Arshdeep (20), Lakhveer Singh (27), Arshdeep (19), Harman (23), Balwinder Kaur (21), Akashdeep (16), Lovepreet (24), Kulwant Singh (35), Aman Deep (32), Harmeet Singh (11), Harmanpreet Singh (11), Harsimran Kaur (11), Virendra (30), Fateh Singh (15), Sahpreet Singh (11), Nirbhay (34, driver), Angrez (38, driver). Poonam (35) and Simran Kaur (30) escaped unhurt.

The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
