PTC News Desk: At least 11 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended while trying to cross into India through the international border in West Bengal, Tripura, and Meghalaya, the Border Security Force stated.

They are being questioned and will be handed over to the respective state police for further legal action, according to a BSF spokesperson.

He also stated that the BSF was in constant touch with its counterpart, Border Guard Bangladesh, to resolve mutual issues, particularly the prevention of atrocities against Indian nationals and people from minority populations in Bangladesh.

Last week, the Union Home Ministry constituted a committee led by the BSF's additional director general to investigate the safety and security challenges confronting minorities in Bangladesh following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

The BSF has been on "high alert" on this front since the collapse of the Hasina government and the unrest in neighbouring Bangladesh. Over the previous few days, border guards have prevented a number of infiltration attempts and returned thousands of Bangladeshi people, with the assistance of the BGB, at numerous sites along the Bangladesh border.

The South Bengal Frontier of the force headquartered in Kolkata said in a statement that "11 Bangladeshi nationals have been apprehended on the border while infiltrating into India. Two each were nabbed from West Bengal and Tripura borders while seven were apprehended from Meghalaya border." "Detailed deliberations were held during the meeting to further enhance border control, security and management," the spokesperson added.
