PTC News Desk: Wardah Khan, a 24-year-old resident of Noida, made headlines by securing the 18th rank in the 2023 UPSC examination. Choosing to leave behind her corporate career to pursue civil services, Khan expressed her joy and determination to serve her country with pride, aspiring for the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) as her top preference.

Reflecting on her achievement, Khan shared her disbelief at making it to the top 20, describing the moment as surreal. "It's a dreamy feeling right now. Everybody in my family is very happy and beaming with pride," she expressed to PTI.

A commerce graduate from Delhi University's Khalsa College, Khan's interest in geopolitics and governance drove her towards civil services. Despite her initial involvement in corporate work, Khan felt unfulfilled and sought a career path aligned with her desire to contribute to society and serve her nation.

After eight months in the corporate sector, Khan decided to pursue civil services wholeheartedly, undertaking rigorous preparation at home supplemented by online coaching. She emphasised the importance of mastering basics such as NCERT and Polity by Laxmikant, along with meticulous syllabus preparation for mains and optional subjects.

Offering advice to aspiring UPSC candidates, Khan emphasised the significance of thorough preparation and disciplined study habits. "You also must have made proper syllabus heads of your mains and your optional should also be prepared with notes before the cycle commences. These are some of the things that must be kept in mind," she advised.

Khan's success underscores the dedication and perseverance required to excel in the UPSC examination. Her journey from the corporate world to civil services exemplifies the pursuit of one's passion and commitment to making a meaningful impact on society. With Khan among the 1,016 candidates recommended for appointment to various services, her achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring civil servants across the country.
