Ahmedabad plane crash: Govt constitutes high level committee to probe tragedy, review SOPs
PTC News Desk: The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced on Saturday that a high-level, multi-disciplinary committee will be established to investigate the causes of the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI-171. The flight, which was traveling from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport on June 12, resulted in the deaths of at least 265 people and left many others injured.
According to a statement shared on X, the ministry said the committee will examine the factors leading to the crash, review current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols, and propose a comprehensive framework aimed at preventing and managing similar aviation disasters in the future.
“The Committee will not be a substitute to other enquiries being conducted by relevant organisations but will focus on formulating SOPs for preventing and handling such occurrences in the future," the Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a post.
