Amritsar-bound goods train derails in Haryana's Karnal, rail traffic disrupted
PTC Web Desk: A total of eight coaches from a goods train derailed at Tarawari station in Haryana's Karnal district on Tuesday, according to an official. The goods train was bound for Amritsar from Delhi.
"At around 4:40 a.m. today, we learned that a goods train had derailed at Karnal's Tarawari station. Eight coaches have been derailed, and two wheels have come off. So far, we are unable to provide additional information because an investigation into the cause of the derailment is ongoing," said Dinesh, Inspector, Karnal police.
Inspector Dinesh added that trains on the Delhi-Ambala railway line had been halted.
"Tracks are also being cleared. This will take a while. However, we're working on it. The trains on the Delhi-Ambala railway line have been halted. No casualties have been reported," he said.
Further details are awaited.
Last month, two coaches of a coal-laden goods train derailed near Haryana's Faridabad railway station. There were no injuries reported in that incident as well.
