Bihar sand mafia: Illegal sand transporter mows down SI Prabhat Ranjan; home guard sustains critical injuries
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident in Bihar's Jamui district, a police sub-inspector, Prabhat Ranjan, lost his life, and home guard jawan Rajesh Kumar Saw sustained critical injuries after being struck by a tractor transporting illegal sand on Tuesday.
Ranjan, actively involved in a crackdown against sand mafia in Bihar region, was conducting patrols in Garhi police station's jurisdiction when a speeding sand-laden tractor deliberately rammed into him and jawan Rajesh Kumar Saw in an apparent attempt to cause harm.
According to the official spokesperson of the Jamui police station, a police team, led by SI Prabhat Ranjan, noticed a tractor carrying sand approaching at a high speed. When they signaled the vehicle to stop, the driver intentionally ran over the officers.
The driver abandoned the tractor at the scene and fled. "We have identified the driver, and efforts are underway for his prompt arrest," the police spokesperson stated.
