BJP appoints Satish Poonia as party's in-charge in Punjab, Tarun Chugh named Gujarat-in-charge
PTC News Desk: In a significant development ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections BJP president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday appointed Rajasthan leader Satish Poonia as the party’s in-charge for Punjab.
Meanwhile former Punjab BJP general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh has been named Gujarat's in charge of the party, which is also the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Senior general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vinod Tawde has been given party's charge in Uttar Pradesh.
Notably, the post of BJP in-charge in Punjab fell vacant after the death of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani in the Air India Flight 171 crash on June 12, 2025.
Currently, BJP's Haryana in-charge Poonia has also been given the charge of Haryana.
Poonia, a former Rajasthan BJP president, will work in Punjab with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who has been tasked with OBC outreach.
