Bombay HC orders CBI probe into death of Sushant Singh Rajput's ex-manager Disha Salian
PTC News Desk: The Bombay High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's ex-manager Disha Salian.
The order came after her father raised suspicion about the circumstances in which she passed away in 2020. A Bench comprising Justices Sarang Kotwal and Ranjitsinha Raja Bhonsale observed that the central agency must register an FIR and record the statement of Disha's father, Satish Salian.
The court also directed the CBI to handover the case to a suitably experienced and senior officer.
The court also said that no one should be treated as an accused unless there is enough evidence to establish a reasonable offence. It added that if no case is made out, Satish Salian can challenge the decision through an appeal.
The High Court directed the investigating officer to examine all aspects related to the circumstances surrounding the death of Salian's daughter.
Disha Salian case
Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malad area. Police registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) following the incident.
After an investigation, police concluded that Disha had died by suicide. However, her father, Satish Salian, approached the High Court last year, claiming that his daughter had been gang-raped and murdered.
He also sought a CBI investigation into her death and demanded that an FIR be registered against Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray.
In his petition, Satish said Disha's death in June 2020 had taken place under suspicious circumstances. He alleged that she was sexually assaulted and murdered and claimed that a politically driven cover-up was carried out to protect influential people.
Disha died just days before actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra area.
