CJP founder Abhijit Dipke's grandmother dies after prolonged illness in Maharashtra
PTC News Desk: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke’s paternal grandmother, Savitribai Shankarrao Dipke, died on Saturday morning, just hours after he was detained by Delhi Police aboard a flight from Mumbai to Delhi.
Savitribai, 85, had been unwell for the past month. She passed away at around 11.30 am at her family home in Santuk Pimpri village in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district. She had also been admitted to a hospital in Hingoli earlier.
Her last rites will be performed at 10 am on Sunday, according to sources.
A cousin of Dipke said the family could not contact him because he was detained in Delhi. However, they had spoken to his parents, who were on their way to Santuk Pimpri.
The cousin said Dipke had met his grandmother on August 15, when he launched the ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign in Hingoli district, and had met her once more afterward. Sources said he had not been able to visit her during the past 20 to 25 days.
The news of Savitribai’s death came hours after Delhi Police detained Dipke aboard a flight carrying him and fellow CJP activists Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka from Mumbai to Delhi.
The three were travelling to participate in the party’s planned protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The CJP had announced the demonstration over concerns related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the Form 6 voter registration process.
