Delhi-bound Indigo flight returns to Goa airport after mid-air engine failure
PTC News Desk: An Indigo flight made an emergence landing at the Goa airport on Tuesday after it experienced mid-air engine failure, prompting Air Traffic Control (ATC) to declare full emergency for a brief period.
An IndiGo flight, 6E 2102, took off from Goa at 9:16 am but had to return to the airport after an engine-related problem was reported. According to sources, Air Traffic Control (ATC) declared a full emergency at around 9:30 am as the aircraft turned back to Goa for a safe landing.
The plane landed safely on Runway 28 at 9:51 am and was moved to Stand 6. The ATC ended the emergency at 10:03 am.
All passengers got off the aircraft safely and were taken to the boarding area. Flight tracking data from Flightradar24 showed that the plane turned back while flying over the coast of southern Maharashtra at an altitude of about 14,000 feet.
The flight to Delhi has now been rescheduled for 3:30 pm, subject to the aircraft being cleared for service and other operational requirements.
Further information about the exact engine problem was not immediately available.
