Delhi's draft electoral roll out: 47.7 lakh of 1.45 crore electors excluded; check when and where to file claims and objections
PTC News Desk: Delhi’s draft electoral roll was released on Monday, with around 47.7 lakh voters left out of the draft list, according to the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO). Delhi has a total of 1,45,10,299 registered electors.
The excluded voters have been placed under the ASDDO categories — Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others and therefore do not appear in the draft roll.
However, people who have been left out can still apply to be added to the voter list. They can submit Form 6 along with the required documents by September 30. The final electoral roll is expected to be published on November 4.
Draft roll has around 97.5 lakh voters
The draft list contains approximately 97.5 lakh voters whose enumeration forms were received and digitised during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
The door-to-door verification exercise started on June 30 and ended on August 17. During this period, forms belonging to around 67.18% of Delhi’s 1,45,10,299 voters were digitised.
The remaining 47.7 lakh voters were classified as “uncollectable” under the ASDDO categories and were not included in the draft roll.
However, voters whose forms were not collected during the verification process can still apply for inclusion through the claims and objections process.
The Delhi CEO said the release of the draft roll marks the beginning of the next phase, during which claims and objections will be reviewed.
Claims and objections open until September 30
As per the revised Election Commission schedule, voters can submit claims and objections until September 30.
The process of issuing notices and taking decisions on the claims will continue until October 29. After this process is completed, the final electoral roll will be published on November 4.
